New Concert Brings "Danger" to TJ's Corral, Sweet 16 Game Getting Personal, More

“Danger Zone” in TJ’s Corral: who came to mind when you read the name of this indelible hit from the movie Top Gun? Or how about when we mention the song "I'm Alright" from the cult classic movie Caddyshack? If you’re starting to get the picture, then you absolutely have to be starting to get excited. Kenny Loggins' remarkable four-decade-plus career has brought him from the top of the charts to the toast of the Grammys. He's had smash hits on Hollywood's favorite soundtracks, rocked worldwide stages, and found his way into children's hearts while bringing his smooth, beautiful voice to platinum albums of a stunning variety of genres. And on Friday night, June 9, Kenny Loggins will be performing in concert in TJ’s Corral . . . Get it on your calendar now!

Speaking of TJ’s Corral Concerts: Last week we mentioned that Lee Brice is coming back in 2017 . . . The date is set for Saturday, May 20.  Also on the 2017 Lineup in TJ’s Corral in addition to Kenny and Lee: Wynonna and the Big Noise Tour, Michael McDonald, Aaron Watson featuring special guest Clare Dunn, The Spinners, The Marshall Tucker Band and even World Fighting Championship (WCF) Fights! The full schedule as we have it so far (yep, working on one more) is on this page.  A word to the wise: the Wynonna and the Big Noise Tour concert is getting close to being sold out. Ticket availability for the other concerts will be announced soon and you’ll most likely read about it first on one of our Wednesday morning 7 AM blog postings.

But Wait, There’s More! Don’t forget our Nashville Nights Showcase on Friday, March 31 featuring Nashville singer-songwriter Alyssa Micaela appearing with her trio. This show starts at 8:30 PM in the Valley Ballroom and tickets are $15 at the Hotel Desk or call 775-783-6606.

We’ll have yet another Nashville Nights Showcase on Friday, April 28 with more info coming soon on performers and times.

One Sweet 16 Game Has Gotten Personal: We’re down to 16 teams in the Men’s NCAA Tournament and the Thursday game between Xavier and Arizona has gotten personal around the CVI. Many of our regulars know Greg Enholm . . . He has helped out in the past with some of our casino promotions and keeps his full-time gig in our sales department specializing in golf groups and more. Greg was brought up in Tucson and is an avid Arizona fan. Many also know Wyatt Woods who is currently one of the Managers on Duty at the CVI and previously held the same position at Sharkey’s. Wyatt is a proud alumnus of Xavier. The two have always gotten along in the past, and we’re pretty sure they will still get along no matter what happens Thursday. However, between now and then we suggest you not stand between them . . . The glaring and snarky looks they are giving each other could damage you!

Just for the Heck of It:
  • Saturday is one of two Waffle Days in the year - the other is in August in case you have to know. Whenever you choose to celebrate it we are ready in Katie’s where we serve waffles every day until 11 AM.
  • Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day. With all the country artists we mentioned in our concert articles above, you’ve got to have a couple of ear worms going on right now . . . Should be pretty easy for any country fan to invent your own quirky country music song title! And, while not country related, as soon as we mention Danger Zone again I’ll bet you that turns into an ear worm for you!
