Another Concert Announced, A Rundown on March at the Inn, More

March - Food, Prizes, Events, Madness and More
The 31 days of March are filled with plenty of excitement here at the Carson Valley Inn . . . Here’s a summary you can hang onto and use as a guide for the entire month:
  • Our March Casino Promotions are anchored by our $80,000 Pot-O-Gold Giveaways with drawings every Friday night for either $10,000 or $20,000 in cash and free play total between the CVI and Bodines Casino. No need to fill out entry forms – you're racking up one virtual drawing ticket for every five points earned all month. Be sure to use your INN Club card while you play, and be here on Fridays for the drawings. Check the "In The Casino" section below for this Friday's giveaway totals and drawing times.
  • Every Monday grab a free CVI T-shirt or Sweatshirt when you accumulate 125 points on the same day – plus you keep the points. Again, see the "in the casino" section for this Monday's giveaway item.
  • Ladies' Night continues on Wednesdays with a special gift item each week for the first 150 ladies to sign up, hot seat drawing prizes, a ladies-only drink special, free bingo, and earn drawing entries for a $500 Shopping Spree we'll be giving away on March 29.
  • 4X Points is popular on Saturdays so we're continuing this multiplier in March – all day, no limits on the number of points you can earn and just a handful of machines are excluded (yes, they are marked.)
  • Katie's continues to offer daily food specials served from 11 AM to 10 PM on Monday through Saturday. This month enjoy Pork Chili Verde for $6.99 on Mondays, Beef Stew served in the Sourdough Bread Bowl for $6.99 on Tuesdays, Italian specials for $6.99 on Wednesdays, Roast Turkey Dinner for $6.99 on Thursdays, and our popular Roasted Prime Rib and Fried Shrimp Dinner on Fridays and Saturdays for $14.99. And don't forget the long-running $5.99 Chandler Chicken Dinner on Sundays from 2 to 10 PM.
  • The "local fundraiser season" (we made that up) winds down in March with the Sierra Lutheran High School Gifts of Grace Dinner & Auction this Saturday and the Minden Rotary Beast Feast on Saturday, March 11.
  • Other March events at the CVI include the Douglas High School ROTC Ball, our local Basque Club's Annual Mus Tournament (all-day card tournament with about 150 participants), a few small conventions, regular monthly association and business meetings and an assortment of other business and social private events. We'd welcome the opportunity to talk you about your group, association, or company having an event here at the CVI  . . . call Carrie at 775-783-6673.
  • March Madness kicks off with Selection Sunday on March 12 and continues over the following extended weekends as the NCAA Tournament shrinks from an initial field of 68 teams to the Men's Final Four on April 1 & 3. When you add in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), College Basketball Invitational (CBI), possibly one other men's tournament and the women's version of some of these tournaments, you have the alumni from over 100 colleges and universities following their teams in loser-goes-home, season-ending tournament play!! No wonder "they" call it March Madness!
  • St. Patty's Day on March 17 it is always fun at the CVI . . . It's a Friday this year and that always "enhances" the celebrating. We're doing the usual draft beer special at the bars, Corned Beef and Cabbage special in Katie's and extended (earlier) live entertainment.
  • We’re "almost there" on the details for the Nashville Nights Showcase on Friday, March 31 in the Valley Ballroom. Watch our weekly blog for more details
  • There's probably more going on in March that we missed today . . . a good reason to catch the details each week in our blog, a new one pops up at 7 AM every Wednesday.

The Whiskey Heroes, a project of Aaron Henry and Trent Wood, began in 2014. With rock roots surrounded by a country locale, their music forms its own unique sound. Another TJ's Concert Announced, Poker Room Ladder Promo, More

Our 4th 2016 TJ’s Corral Concert:
His hit Backroad Song is #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart this week and #5 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart, his album REMINGTON (featuring Backroad Song) debuts this Friday, and he’ll be appearing live in TJs Corral on Saturday, May 28His name is Granger Smith and he joins Frankie Ballard (Thursday, June 2), The Oak Ridge Boys (Saturday, June 25) and Randy Houser (Thursday, September 8) on the schedule for what promises to be another exciting concert season in TJs Corral. As soon as we have tickets available for these and other to-be-announced concerts, we’ll post the information on this page on our website.

We’ll Give You the Shirt Off Our Back! Actually, it’s the shirt off the back of the counter behind the Guest Services sign . . . and it’s every Monday in March. We’re talking a different color CVI logo polo shirt each Monday and you can collect one each Monday in March by earning 150 base points the same day. Be sure to use your INN Club card while playing in the casino and check in with Guest Services as soon as you hit 150 points on Monday. These shirts are popular, so be sure to get yours while supplies last and check out more March promotions.

Climbing the Ladder Again in the Poker Room! The Poker Ladder is back for March, April, and May and this time it has even more “rungs.” Poker players accumulate points with all live play and any extra points from wheel spins. We’ll tally up the points and post the leaders each week so you know where you stand. After play on April 15, the top 40 point earners qualify for a $1500 Free Roll Tournament on April 22. At the end of May, we’ll post the final tally and the  50 top point earners for the three months qualify for drawings on June 3, 10, and 17 for another $1500 in total cash.   It’s pretty simple and all the details – in a type size you can actually read – are posted in the Poker Room. And, as they say on those late night infomercials, “But Wait, There’s More!”  Every Friday night from 5 to 10 PM and Saturdays from 1 to 8 PM the high-hand-of-the-hour will get to spin the wheel for points, meals and cash. Click here for more on our Poker Room promotions, tournaments (including a new Tuesday night Crazy Pineapple Tournament) and special games.

Coming Up in the Valley Ballroom Very Soon
We like to help promote the major open-to-the-public events and sponsoring organizations coming up in the Valley Ballroom – here are a few happening in the next two weeks:
These fundraisers are sandwiched between many conventions, meetings, seminars, client appreciation events, banquets, retirement parties, fundraisers, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, memorials . . . We welcome them all and invite you to contact Carrie at 775-783-6673 to plan your next event. Carrie makes it easy by helping you with menu selections, decorations and other special needs. Our staff then handles the set-up, cooking, serving, cleanup, tear down, audiovisual equipment and myriad of other details people think “just happen.”

Free Cabaret Lounge Entertainment:
Bill Wharton is here tonight, The Three Blind Mice entertain Thursday through Saturday and Jonathon “JB” Barton takes the stage Sunday through Wednesday.
The Three Blind Mice bring a party to the Cabaret Lounge with classic rock hit songs from artists such as Van Halen, ZZ Top, Kiss, Elton John, Queen, The Temptations, The Steve Miller Band, Ozzy Osbourne, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, The Spinners, The Beatles, Judas Priest and many others! Formed and led by "the singing drummer" Johnny Lust, the Las Vegas based classic rock trio is rounded out by guitarist/lead singer Dominic Ancona and by former Eagles Tribute act DESPERADO bassist and lead singer John Morrison.

Two Monthly Tournaments this Week: Our monthly Ladies-Only Poker Tournament is this Sunday starting at 4 PM. The crew in the Poker Room has all the details. Then on Tuesday, our monthly Blackjack Tournament takes place in the pit area and any of the dealers can fill you in on how it all works.

  • Because We Feel Like Mentioning It
    • Today is Old Stuff Day. To see how new and old can coexist, stop at Sharkey's Casino and take some time to browse the many pictures and other memorabilia on the walls. Lots of memories of old time Carson Valley scenes, people, and places.
    • Today is also Banana Cream Pie Day.  As luck would have it, we offer Banana Cream Pies in either the 6' or 10' size at the Katie's Bakery Counter, or order a slice for dessert while enjoying lunch or dinner in Katie's. Here's a look at all the take-some-home-today bakery items we offer at the Katie's Bakery Counter (caution, this list could be Overbearing to those who snack on veggies, fruit and unbuttered/unsalted popcorn).
    • Thursday is National Anthem Day. Love her or leave her, here is a chance to again enjoy one of the most compelling recent renditions sung on our country’s largest stage by Lady Gaga!
    • Friday is Grammar Day and Tuesday is Proofreading Day. Guess that means, at least grammatically, anything goes on the three days in-between.
