No, Sister . . .
That's Not the Easter Bunny!
Sister “Teaching” Easter Catechism this Saturday!
With proper respect for the sanctity of the holiday on Sunday, Easter will come rollicking in this Saturday when Sister's Easter Catechism lights up the Valley Ballroom in performances at 5:30 and 8:00 PM. on Saturday, If you are catholic, used to be catholic, know people who are catholic, dated someone catholic, heard or told a catholic joke, you are certain to enjoy this borderline irreverent and hilariously funny reflection on the guilt and fear that guided many a terrified soul into adulthood! Part pageant, and wHOLY hysterical, this latest of the sinfully funny Late Nite Catechism series unearths the origins of Easter bunnies, Easter eggs, Easter bonnets, Easter baskets, and of course those yummy Easter Peeps. Sister answers questions about pet heaven and the significance of those adorable baby chicks! Classroom participation is a must and gum chewing is a no-no!! Get your tickets now online at this link or at our hotel desk.

View from Near the #2 Tee Box
at Genoa Lakes
The first of many dozens of 2019 golf groups visited the Carson Valley Inn last weekend and the above picture is the view they had from close to the second tee box at the Golf Club at Genoa Lakes. The Carson Valley Inn is actually headquarters to almost 100 different golf groups each year varying in size from as few as eight golfers to as many as 100+ golfers and non-golfing spouses. Some groups are all guys, some are all women and others are couples. Whatever the size or makeup of your group, our resident golf specialist Greg Enholm, PGA, can help assemble a package that's perfect for you – whether it's two nights and one round of golf, or most of a week with multiple rounds at a variety of courses. We make it easy by arranging the rooms, the golf and the social functions. Give Greg a call today at 775-783-6615.

Kenny G Joins Concert Lineup, 9th Anniversary Fun, More from the Carson Valley Inn

Kenny G Joins 2019
TJ’s Corral Concert Lineup
Phenomenally successful jazz artist Kenny G will take over the TJ’s Corral stage on Saturday, June 8 and tickets go on sale at noon today! Since the concert is only two months away, we deviated a little from our normal pattern and announced this additional concert on our social media platforms last Friday. In the future, we’ll attempt to go back to making concert and other entertainment announcements in our weekly Wednesday morning blog. However, just to make sure you’re always getting the latest news, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With the addition of Kenny, our 2019 Concert and Event Lineup as we have it so far is Sister's Easter Catechism on April 20 (see next story), Easton Corbin on May 24, Kenny G on June 8, Uncle Kracker on June 29 (tied to the Mike Tice Charity Event – see story below), Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on July 4, Dwight Yoakam on July 26 (only a few handfuls of tickets remain) and Martina McBride on August 4. For tickets, check this page on our website or stop by the hotel front desk.

Easter Catechism Update
Sister’s return to the Carson Valley Inn is just over a week away and in the video above she chats about the importance (or lack thereof) of the furry stuffed Easter Bunny as it relates to the holiday. Her antics are hard to predict and the outcome is guaranteed to be quite humorous during her Sister's Easter Catechism shows in our Valley Ballroom on Saturday, April 20. Get your tickets now online at this link or at our hotel desk while you are here at CVI.

No Need to RSVP – and no pressure to empty your wallets on the spot. Just show up by noon and be ready for a tasty lunch and “colorful” time!

New Menu Items in Katie’s
Some new items were added to the Katie’s menu last week and we’re still in the process of trying them all – we’ll have more in next week’s blog.

Anniversary Celebration
It was about this time ten years ago when the announcement was made the Carson Valley Inn was being sold to a man named Mike Pegram. The rest of 2009 was a blur as all the due diligence was completed, licenses were approved and the hundreds of other steps necessary to make the transition were put into place. Mike took over shortly after midnight on January 4, 2010 and over the next few hours the remodeling of our casino was well underway. That construction project (first of many) went nonstop until April when progress was to the point where it could be declared that we were up and running without visible construction in progress. And thus, every April we celebrate the anniversary of Mike’s ownership. Nothing elaborate – that’s not Mike’s style – so join us on April 14 and 15 for these little anniversary extras:

I Love Rock 'n' Roll, Sister Hitchhiking to Minden, Poker Ladder is Back, Much More from the CVI

I Love Rock 'n' Roll
The two longest running number-one singles of 1982 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart were  "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and "Ebony and Ivory" by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, which each stayed at the top for seven weeks. The Jett hit ended the 6-week #1 run by "Centerfold" (The J. Geils Band). You'll experience this rock classic and more eighties hits by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts when they appear in TJ's Corral on Thursday, July 4!  Tickets for our 2019 Concert and Event Lineup as announced so far are available through our website starting on this page and at the hotel desk. Join us for Easton Corbin on May 24, Uncle Kracker on June 29, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on July 4, Dwight Yoakam on July 26 and Martina McBride on August 4.  Look for more concert announcements in this blog which is updated every Wednesday morning at 7 AM.

Why Was Sister Hitchhiking?
We were a little puzzled when one of our regular Texas visitors sent us this picture from Ft. Worth on Monday (April 1.) He asked sister what was going on and she said her aircraft had been grounded but she was determined to get to Minden for her Sister's Easter Catechism shows in our Valley Ballroom on Saturday April 20. She found someone to get her to Las Vegas where she has a few shows before heading our way and she promises she’ll get here!!  Seriously (to the extent we can be serious with Sister involved), her performances will have you laughing spontaneously as you relive the experiences of your own upbringing – whatever religion was your umbrella. Get your tickets now for this hilarious and tastefully irreverent comedy show either at our front desk while you are at CVI or purchase them online at this link.

Poker Ladder & FreeRoll Tournament Returns
April marks the return of our Poker Room’s popular $1,000 Free Roll Tournament Ladder and here’s how it works: During April and May we’re keeping a separate tally of all the Inn Club points players earn in the poker room. After the month gets going, we'll start posting a leader-board each week – we call it the Ladder – so everyone will have a chance to see where they rank as the next two months move along. The top 40 people on the "Ladder" as of May 31 will qualify for a free spot in the $1,000 Free Roll Tournament in June! Be sure to stop in and check out all the Poker Room's special games and promotions.
