First TJ's Corral Concert Friday, Old Cars, Motorcycles, More at CVI

TJ’s Kicks Into Gear This Friday!
Easton Corbin’s concert this Friday in TJ’s Corral is his first of five appearances in nine days . . . But we’ll have him ”fresh” and we can’t wait for his kick off of our 2019 Concert Season. Following Easton are Kenny G on June 8, Uncle Kracker on June 29, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on July 4, Dwight Yoakam (Standing Room Only) on July 26, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on July 31, Martina McBride on August 4 and Loverboy on August 9.  For tickets, check this page on our website or stop by the hotel front desk. And be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for any additions.

A Concert FAQ of Sorts
Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we receive concerning concerts in TJ’s Corral:
  • If you bought a ticket for seating, rest assured you’ll have a padded chair and not a steel or plastic seat.
  • You may see some upscale portable restrooms. These are just to augment our permanent restrooms - take your pick!
  • For accessible seating arrangements, or if you have any questions, please call 775-783-7766 in advance. We want to have the time to answer your questions and our folks are busy taking tickets, seating people and running Will Call and the Box Office on the afternoon and evening of concerts.
  • The Box Office and Will Call open at 4 PM and the gates open about 45 minutes before the show starts. This Friday’s concert – and most of the 2019 concerts – start at 8:00 PM.
  • Everyone needs a ticket, regardless of age.
  • On the no-no list: Outside food/drinks, chairs, pets, drones, etc.
  • Smoking? It’s OK but only in the designated area.
  • Please have your ticket ready when you get to the entrance – this will make scanning and “getting you in” go so much quicker.
  • Think you might need a sweater, jacket, or any other garment? Bring it in with you because there’s no re-admittance into the concert area after your ticket has been scanned.
  • Yep, the concerts will proceed rain or shine, hot or cold.
  • When buying tickets, a couple of suggestions: make sure you are on the Carson Valley Inn’s website and not a third-party ticket seller as most of them charge higher rates. Also, if you’re buying more than one ticket, make sure your seats are together before you finalize your purchase.
Old Cars, Blue Skies, Snow Capped Mountains!
Nickel Cars and Gold Wing Hondas
  • “After the Brass and before the Chrome.” That’s how event chair Bill Ramsden describes the Nickel Car Era. The technical definition is 1912-1929; some clubs extend it to 1932. Whatever definition you choose, there are over three dozen of these beauties at the CVI through Thursday as part of the Nickel Era Touring Registry Inc. NEVNET 2019 Tour.

  • If touring motorcycles are more your style check out the 50+ Gold Wings, trikes and other touring motorcycles at the CVI this weekend. They’ll be here as the Gold Wing Road Riders Association [GWRRA], California District holds their annual convention with various seminars, classes, demonstrations and other activities dedicated to furthering their motto of Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge!  Don’t miss the free show by the California Gold Angles Sunday at 2:30PM in our west lot between the casino and Carson Valley Market.
Carson Valley Market Ready?
We snapped the above picture during a lull in the mad dash earlier this week to finish stocking the shelves so we could open. By the time you read this, the Carson Valley Market convenience store could very well be back in business after a complete interior demolition and remodeling. About the beer garden of sorts we mentioned last week? That’s it in the far left background - plenty of beer on hand now but we'll have more about that area next week.

We Make These Days About You
Can You Pick Out the
Mini Blueberry Cheesecake?
  • Thursday is Lucky Penny Day. For centuries finding a penny has been considered a good omen, an event that suggested something good would happen in the life of the finder. We don’t have an opinion one way or the other on this concept but it did give us cause to check out our Penny Progressive Jackpot which has climbed to over $53,500! This game changer would definitely be “something good” and it can only be won on the Penny Progressive Slots at CVI, Sharkey’s, Slot World or Bodines!
  • Friday is Escargot Day. Never enjoyed this delicacy? Bring a friend who has and give it a try in CV Steak!
  • Saturday is Wine Day. Unlike Drink Wine Day in February, Wine Day is more about celebrating the beverage rather than the act of drinking it. Seriously?! Drinking wine IS celebrating it and we offer dozens of wines by the bottle and glass in CV Steak!
  • Sunday is Blueberry Cheesecake Day. Your best bet to enjoy it at the CVI: one of our mini cheesecakes at Katie’s Bakery Counter. The flavors and toppings vary from day-to-day but were thinking they’ll be a few extra blueberry cheesecakes available this Sunday!
  • Tuesday is Hamburger Day and we have a variety of burgers for you at Katie’s here at the CVI, the Jackpot Café at Sharkey’s Casino, Betsy’s Big Kitchen at Slot World Casino and the restaurant (needs a name, huh!) at Bodines Casino!  The selections vary by location and each offers its specialties!
Race & Sports Book
  • On the Board this week: Major League Baseball, at least two more games in the NBA Basketball Eastern Conference Finals (Championship Series starts June 1), NHL Hockey Stanley Cup Games (start Monday) and Sunday’s two big races, the Indianapolis 500 (9:30AM PDT) and the Monster Energy NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 (3:00PM PDT). Did you know: Firestone provides about 5,000 tires for the Indianapolis 500 every year with each entry getting 36 sets of tires for practice, qualifying and the race.
  • Futures Bets: 2019 US Open at Pebble Beach, 2019 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup, 2019 World Series, 2020 NCAA Football Championship and 2020 Super Bowl!
