“Somebody's Gotta Be Country”
A few of us “country is not necessarily my thing” types
were kicking around why tickets are selling so well for Easton Corbin’s concert
coming up next Friday, May 24 in TJ’s Corral. The light went on when we watched
the video of his most recent hit “Somebody's Gotta Be Country.” With some
scenes that could’ve been shot in Western Nevada, and lyrics like “Yeah I take
up two spots cause my truck don't fit,” “All my rowdy buddies keep settlin'
down” and “Yeah somebody's gotta back up traffic on an old John Deere,” we now ”get
it.” While we doubt Easton’s ever been
to Carson Valley physically, we know he must’ve spent time here in spirit! We
did release some more tickets for Easton’s concert earlier this week and we
urge you to get ‘em while they last as this event is definitely trending
towards a sellout!
Our full 2019 Concert Lineup includes Easton Corbin on
May 24, Kenny G on June 8, Uncle
Kracker on June 29, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on
July 4, Dwight Yoakam (Standing Only) on July 26, Pat
Benatar and Neil Giraldo on July 31, Martina McBride on August 4
and Loverboy on August 9. For tickets, check this page on our
website or stop by the hotel front desk. And be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for any
upcoming additions.
Wine Walk Thursday
Sip 'n' Shine is the theme for this year’s first Thirsty Thursday Wine Walk happening
tomorrow in Gardnerville with Sharkey’s Casino right in the middle of all the action. Over
40 businesses are participating in one way or another and along the walk you’re
likely to see classic cars, a couple of bands some food offerings and, of
course a sample of wine at many of the businesses. You can register in advance at this link or stop at Big Daddy’s Bicycles or the Gardnerville Station (the old gas station at the S
curve) this Thursday from 4:30 to 7:00 PM prior to starting your wine trek. You’ll definitely need the proper “stamp”
and “dot” to enjoy the samples (including Sharkey's.) The $20 fee also includes your Commemorative
Forever Glass . . . and it’s only $15 if you bring your Commemorative Forever
Glass from previous wine walks – that’s the glass with light blue logo and no
year.
The 10th Annual Pinocchio’s Ride for the Tatas is this weekend and the always-colorful Poker Run will stop
at the CVI this Sunday! The participants in this two-day party and ride have
always brought a festive flow during the poker run’s CVI stop. You can check it
out midday Sunday when they park near our big electronic sign and wander into
the Cabaret Lounge for their poker hand card.
At least that’s the first question we asked yesterday
when we snapped this picture of the almost completed interior of the Carson
Valley Market. As it turns out, the special beer garden cooler is just off the
left edge of the picture – but more about that next week. Meanwhile we think
that two gentlemen in the upper right-hand section of the picture are storing
their beer in the attic! The complete remodeling of the Carson Valley market,
while going a little slower than we anticipated, is in the home stretch. As we’ve
mentioned the last few weeks, the gas and
diesel pumps are open for credit card and debit card purchases during the remodel.

They play the hits from Aerosmith and Amy Winehouse to Wilson Pickett and ZZ
Top . . . and many artists in between.
