Who!?
Raptors Running Rampant is what the 200+ participants in this weekend’s Eagles & Agriculture event are hoping to see as they gawk and gaze from local ranches, barns and highways. Now if you just want an up-close look at a falcon or owl, we suggest you keep your eyes open as you walk in and out of our hotel entrance this weekend. At various times you’re likely to see either – or even both – as the weekend’s activities unfold.  And our thanks goes out to the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce for headquartering so many of this weekend’s “Eagles and Ag” activities here at the CVI!
No, You Can't Deduct the Dog Under the New Tax Guidelines!
Tax Time Rolling In
You’ve been asking about Win/Loss Statements for the tax year 2018 so here’s a quick reminder on how it works: we do need your signature on a signed request in order to run one of these reports. However, we make it easy for you using this form.  And if you had winnings at more than one of our locations, you can check the appropriate locations (Carson Valley Inn, Bodines Casino, Sharkey’s Casino and SlotWorld Casino) and we’ll get all of your 2018 reports prepared.  As a reminder, all we can report for you is play recorded while you’ve been using your Player Club card. Also a reminder that we cannot, and do not, offer any type of tax advice.

Peach Pie Anyone?
Some Food & Beverage Days of Note
  • Today is Pie Day. Check this list of pies: Pumpkin, Peach, Apple, Lemon Meringue, Banana Cream, Chocolate Cream, and Boston Crème!  We bake them all right here in our on-site bakery and you can enjoy them by the slice in Katie’s  . . . or take home a whole pie (some are also available in the mini-pie size) from the Katie’s Bakery Counter. We don’t have every variety of pie every day, but that’s only because we sometimes can’t keep up with the demand. So, if you have a special occasion, be sure to order in advance.
  • Thursday is Peanut Butter Day. Hmmm – how about Peanut Butter cookies?? Just $1.50 each or $6 for a box of six at the Katie’s Bakery Counter.
  • Friday is Irish Coffee Day. With temperatures predicted to be from the mid-20s to the low 50s, might be a perfect day to stop by one of our casino bars and sip on an Irish Coffee while you ponder your next sports wager!
  • Sunday is Chocolate Cake Day. Same pitch as for the pies above: Enjoy a slice in Katie’s anytime or take home a whole Chocolate Cake from the Katie’s Bakery Counter.
  • Monday is Blueberry Pancake Day. Dig in to a stack of Pancakes laced with blueberries for just to $5.99!

Youth to Benefit from Three Golf Tournaments
The CVI is proud to be participating as a sponsor (of course we are also playing in them) in a few upcoming Golf Tournaments benefiting the youth of our community.
  • The China Spring Sandbagger Golf Tournament on Friday, May 6 offers an opportunity to play Edgewood Tahoe and hob-nob with judges, attorneys and other community leaders . . . none of whom can do a darn thing to help your golf game!!  Last we heard there were a few individual openings and you can find out more by contacting Tiffany Dubois at 775-265-5350.
  • The Fore the Kids Tournament on Saturday, May 14 at the Genoa Lakes Ranch Course offers the opportunity to golf that day with Super Bowl Champion quarterback Jim McMahon or win a golf vacation with Jim and his wife.  The weekend event kicks-off (Jim insisted on this term) on Friday, May 13 with a Meet and Greet at the Douglas County Community Center and continues with Saturday’s golf event filled with more extras, surprises, fun and youth organization beneficiaries than just about any you’ve ever experienced.  Don’t miss out . . . sign up soon and feel free to call Renea at 775-790-1544.
  • Then there’s the infamous Mike Tice Charity Golf Tournament on the third weekend in June benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, Carson Valley Branch. However, we’re running out of room, so more about this one next week!
  • And finally on the subject of golf – and this one is for the adult guys and thus benefiting the older but young-at-heart crowd: We may have room for a few more players in our Annual Spring Stag Golf Outing the last weekend in April . . . call Greg at 775-783-6615 for availability!

Because We Feel Like Mentioning It
  • Today is Scrabble Day (the board game).  If you are on the anti-inflammatory drug oxyphenbutazone you are probably already aware this is a 1760 point word! Go ahead, click on the drug name and see how it's done!
  • Friday is Take a Wild Guess Day. Before clicking on the link, try guessing why this day was "invented!"
  • Saturday is Eggs Benedict Day. Nice to have this fall on a Saturday this year because every Saturday we offer a $5.99 Eggs Benedict special in Katie's from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. And if you're still thinking about the 1760-point Scrabble word, here's a more-pronounceable 20-point word describing what happens when you play in the casino on Saturdays in April: You quintuple (5X) your INN Club points!
