January – Free Cars, Sweatshirts, Meals and More!

We don’t usually lead our weekly blog with our casino promotions but were giving away “a bunch” this month so here’s a quick rundown:

• Free Meals Mondays and Wednesdays: Earn just 100 points (before any multipliers) on any Monday or Wednesday in January and swipe at the casino kiosk for a certificate for a free meal from our January Player’s Menu which includes our All-American Breakfast, any omelet, a cheeseburger or any of our six $7.99 Plates. Oh, you keep the points!
• Ladies’ Night Wednesdays:  Ladies, join us from 5:30 to 8:30 PM every Wednesday for a free gift (second two bowls in a Set of Four Soup Bowls tonight) for the first 150 ladies, free gift baskets (Yankee Candle baskets tonight) as hot seat prizes, games, a weekly drink special and free bingo. Every Wednesday you’ll also earn entries for the Jan. 31 drawing for a Disneyland Family Admission for Four.
• Free Sweatshirts Thursdays:  Since theoretically it’s cold in January (see the Soup article below), we’ll warm you up with a free CVI sweatshirt every Thursday (different color each week) as soon as you earn 150 points the same day. Again, you keep the points.
• 4X Points Saturdays: yeah, we know that technically points are not free ‘cause you have to play in the casino to earn them. But when we multiply your points by four, those extra points are on us as are all the benefits you get from those extra points!
• Free Cash & Free Play Fridays: Join us at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 PM for our Weekly Cash & Free Play Drawings. You’re earning one free entry into the Friday drawings for every five base points you earn during the month.
• Free Toyota Corolla Giveaway: this one isn’t until Saturday, February 10 but you’re collecting a Golden Entry Ticket for this car giveaway for every 500 points you earn up until then. Don’t need a new car? Don’t worry, we’ll give you a chance to opt for a cash payout if you wish. And why "cars" instead of "car?" Cause we're also giving one away at Sharkey's!

Frequent CVI visitor Patricia A. was well into a Gold Bonus/Free Games frenzy on one of our Buffalo Gold Collection slots near the pit last Friday night when her frenzy level went up exponentially . . . one of those bonus spins won her a $25,551 payout thanks to the adrenaline boosting “Multiple Wins” feature!  Ecstatic? You bet she was! When asked if she wanted the winnings in cash or check, she pondered what she might need for the remainder of her visit and a little fun money and, as the picture verifies, opted for some of each! As for her husband Victor holding the cash portion, we asked him how much of that he got to keep. His answer? Probably the same as any smart husband whose wife had just won this much!

Eagles & Ag Filling Up

Our friends at the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce reported yesterday that the16th year of Eagles & Agriculture still has limited openings for the three largest elements of the event: The Thursday night Welcome Reception and Photo Exhibit on January 25, the Falconers Dinner on Friday, January 26 (in our Valley Ballroom) and the Ranch & Eagle Tour on Saturday morning followed by lunch in our Valley Ballroom. Katie's Chicken Tortilla Soup

January is Soup Month which is not surprising since statistically it’s the coldest month of the year in most parts of our country including Northern Nevada.

No problem keeping warm here at the CVI as we serve two different house-made soups by the cup or bowl in Katie’s each day starting at 11 AM. Katie’s Navy Bean Soup has been a daily standard for over 30 years.  The rotation for January for the second soup of the day is Cream of Broccoli on Mondays, Chicken Tortilla on Tuesdays, Tomato Pesto on Wednesdays, Chicken Florentine on Thursdays, New England Style Clam Chowder on Fridays, Beef Barley on Saturdays and Potato Cheddar on Sundays.

While probably not technically a soup (Google the question and  you'll understand why we said probably), Katie’s also serves Beef and Bean Chili every day!

• Wednesday is Italian Day in Katie’s – three specials for $6.99 each served from 11 AM to 10 PM! The Friday and Saturday night special in Katie’s is Roasted Prime Rib & Fried Shrimp for $14.99 served from 4 PM.
• Thursday’s special in CV Steak is the CV Steak Mix Grill, a combination of our Filet Mignon, a Dijon and molasses Marinated Pork Tenderloin Medallion and Herb Marinated Lamb Chop for $26. This Friday it's Medallions of Wild Boar Tenderloinwith bourbon jus and spiced grapes for $30. Saturday night’s special is Garlic Studded Prime Rib for $26 and Sunday's special is One-Pound of King Crab Legs for $32. These specials are served with fresh vegetable, choice of rice or potato – au gratin, baked, or a one-pound, twice-baked – tableside tossed salad and warm demi-loaf of bread.

On the Sports Front

• Our Guys Picks: The football season concluded with the Guys going 3 & 3. It was a season of great picks by our Sports Book Guys as Alan and Mike each had 20 wins and 14 losses. This 59% win percentage would make all sports gamblers proud. On the flip side the Sales Guy Greg ended the season with a 12 & 22 record to ensure he will keep his obviously much-needed day job. As the NFL playoffs approach all three of the guys wish you all the best with your bets. And be sure not to ask Greg for advise in this arena!
• Enjoy $2 Draft Beer during all Televised Pro Football Playoff Games and the NCAA College football Championship Game. l bring your bar bites order to you right at your seat.
• The Progressive Pro PK'EM ended the regular season at $4,551 – but we will give it away, so read on. This week’s Progressive Pro PK'EM parlay card has 15 props for the 4 NFL playoff games on Saturday and Sunday: the winner and over/under for each of the four games plus seven props.  The procedure remains the same: it’s just $5 per card, play as many cards as you like, pick all 15 and you win the jackpot. And remember that two of the games are on Saturday this weekend, so the cut off is 1 PM on Saturday for playing this week’s Progressive Pro PK'EM.
• NCAA Championship Game Football Grid: We’re giving away $50 for each of the first three quarters and the final score for the January 8 game! Earn entries during live poker games this week ‘til all squares are claimed.

At Sharkey’s and Slot World, all sports betting is done at Guest Services. A winning sports bet placed at any of our four casinos can be cashed at any of our four casinos.  Horse Race bets can only be placed or cashed when the Race and Sports Book is open at the CVI or Bodines Casino.

in the Cabaret Lounge:

Cliff and Dave tonight, The Blues Monsters Thursday thru Saturday, the NCAA Championship Game on Monday and Carolyn Dolan and Big Red Tuesday and Wednesday.  The Cabaret Lounge is "dark" on Sunday and Monday in January.

Cliff and Dave are powerhouse singer/gospel drummer Cliff Porter and southern-fried singer/guitarist Dave Berry, often seen fronting the band Jelly Bread. The duo provides an evening of sultry R&B, funk and swinging rock ’n’ roll. The Blues Monsters is a popular red-hot blues band with a powerfully unique combination of R&B, funk, jazz, and Chicago-style blues. Whether paying respects to the masters of traditional blues, or rockin' out other tunes, The Blues Monsters get the whole house up and dancing!  Carolyn Dolan can dive into powerful R & B, deliver a smooth jazz standard or a gentle country ballad.  For the last fifteen years, she has been performing with her rockin' blues and R & B band, Carolyn Dolan and Big Red.
