Whether you’re looking for Flexibility, Opportunity or something in between, we invite YOU to stop by our Job Fair this coming Tuesday from 3 to 7 PM in the Convention Center at the Carson Valley Inn!  We’ll be hiring for full-time and part-time positions at all four of our properties: the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, Sharkey’s Casino in Gardnerville, and Bodines Casino and SlotWorld Casino in Carson City. Many positions have flexible scheduling and there's always an opportunity to grow within our company if there’s a match between our needs and your personality, ambition and talents!

Flexibility: Marissa worked for us full-time this summer as a hostess in Katie's and she now works weekends while applying herself midweek towards earning her AA degree at Western Nevada College. Miguel started as a busser in Katie's in 2015 and his attitude and work ethic quickly got him promoted to a server position. He's now working full time during the summer and weekends during the school year as he attends the University of Nevada. Says Miguel, “The company allows me to pursue my education yet keep earning money!"   Sandy works three 6-hour shifts in Job's Perk each week because “and I don't want to be home all the time, I wanted something to bring in a few extra dollars and keep my mind going while building new memories!”

Opportunity: As we have grown to four properties – with perhaps more on the horizon? – We continue to train from within. Jessica started as a busser in CV Steak, soon took on bartending, later moved to the casino floor as a slot attendant/cocktail server and slot lead position. She then went into our Manager On Duty (MOD) training program and is now part of the CVI MOD staff. Shalyn started as a server in Katie's back in 2006.  Two+ years ago she went into the MOD training program during which she worked at all four of our properties and is now one of the Managers on Duty at Sharkey's. Darren first worked at the CVI in Katie's and the old Michael's Restaurant when he was in high school.  He return to the CVI when he turned 21 and worked as a change person and slot key person before being promoted to his current position as slot lead/supervisor.

Somebody Like You!

Who is attending the 38 Special Concert in TJ’s Corral on Friday, September 21? Hopefully it’s “Somebody Like You,” the title of the 38 Special hit from the album "Strength in Numbers" recorded for A&M Records and released in 1986.  You can buy tickets on our website or in person at the Hotel Front Desk.

• Over 40 HDTVs, the full NFL package, and the just about every major college game combine to  provide plenty of viewing opportunities in the Cabaret Lounge, Cabaret Bar, pit area, poker room and CV Steak Bar. Add in the HDTVs at Sharkey’s Casino, Bodines Casino and SlotWorld Casino and our combined football and other sports viewing possibilities exceed 100  screens!!
• Enjoy $2 Domestic Draft Beer - as much beer as we can fit in an 16 ounce cup - during  all NFL games at the CVI. Want to munch while you watch? Our staff will bring your bar bites order to you right at your seat.
• The Progressive Pro PK'EM is back and it’s been expanded to all four properties with a special $5 parlay card each week. Pick all 15 games straight up and the Jackpot is yours! The “pot” starts at $2,500 and it works very similar to a slot progressive: The amount climbs each week based on the number of cards bet until it hits! Play as many cards as you wish and remember, the jackpot can only be won at one of our four casinos!
• Special Giveaways for Monday's Raider's/Rams Game:  We have an assortment of Raiders hats and t-shirts to give away during this Monday's Raider's/Rams game which is scheduled to kick off at 7:20 PM. We’ll continue with Raiders and Niners merchandise giveaways whenever either of these teams is playing on a Thursday or Monday night. Watch for Greg when he’s distributing drawing tickets.
• A $160 Monday Night Football Grid is on tap in our poker room every week and you can obtain squares by making various hands during the week in live poker games. Check the details on this page and get in on the $40 payouts for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters and for the final score. This week’s squares are for the early Jets/Lions game scheduled for 4:10 PM.
• Our Guys Picks:  the last few years Mike and Alan from our Sports Book and Greg from the Sales team have picked two games (college or pro) each week to see who can come up with the best record at the end of the year.  All three guys agreed to jump in again this year and Steve Forester also joined in so let's see how they do.  Alan is going with two NFL underdogs this week: the Texans +6 ½ at New England and the Jets +6 ½ over the Lions.  Mike chimed in with Rutgers +36 at Ohio St. and the Minnesota Golden Gophers -2 ½ against Fresno St.   Greg kicked off his season taking the Eagles +2 ½ at Atlanta and Da’Bears +8 ½ at Green Bay.  Steve joins the fray with the Saints -9 ½ at Tampa Bay and the Browns +5 vs. the Steelers.
• Bet Here/Collect There! Sports tickets can be cashed-in at Guest Services when the Sports Book is closed. Horse Race tickets can be cashed only when the Race and Sports Book is open. Winning sports bets placed at any of our four casinos (CVI, Bodines, Sharkey’s and SlotWorld) can be cashed at any of the four locations.
• What’s On The Board: This week you can bet NCAA and NFL Football, Major League Baseball, WNBA Championship Games, Canadian Football League, Sunday’s NASCAR Big Machine Brickyard 400 and Horseracing. Futures include winners of the World Series, NASCAR Monster Energy Series, the NFL Conference Championships, the 2019 Super Bowl, the 2019 NCAA Football Championship and the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Just for Fun

• Friday is Beer Lovers Day.  Arnold Schwarzenegger is credited with having said, “Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer.” So when with the kids, order milk for them in Katie's. When here without them, enjoy a beer at our Casino Bar, CV Steak Bar or at your seat while gaming!
• Sunday is Grandparents Day.  Here's a shout out to all of the grandparents who frequent the CVI! How about all of us with grandparents grab a couple of cupcakes at the Katie’s Bakery Counter and give ‘em to grandma and/or grandpa just to show your appreciation!
• Tuesday is TV Dinner Day.  Don't even think about it . . . if you don't feel like the meal preparation process, keep the freezer closed and head into Katie's or CV Steak!

Chris Twomey tonight, The California Cowboys Thursday thru Saturday, NFL Football Sunday and Monday nights and Denver Saunders next Tuesday and Wednesday.  Chris Twomey has roots deep into a genre of folk-rock; from 2Me to The Diva Kings to Dad's LPs to whatever is next.

R. W. Smith and the California Cowboys deliver a powerful sound, with the clear punch of tight three-part harmonies.  The group has appeared on concert billings with such country favorites as Alabama, Big & Rich, Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, Clint Black, George Jones, Joe Diffe, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, The Bellamy Brothers, Restless Heart, Travis Tritt, Doug Stone, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and many other country stars. Denver Saunders is the inspiring vocalist/guitarist who is a mainstay with the band Well Dressed Mannequins!
