A Sincere Thank You and an Important Blood Drive

A Very Sincere ThankYou!
We have been genuinely touched with the quantity and sincerity of the many messages of support and encouragement since the 30-day casino shutdown ordered by the governor of Nevada on March 17. Comments on our social media posts, private messages, posts on community forums, texts, phone calls and emails to individual employees have poured in - Wow! Your positive thoughts are so welcome during these trying times for our employees, yourselves and the whole world. Be safe, be strong and we’ll see you all again soon!

An Important Blood Drive Thursday in CVI West Lot
Vitalant will have their Bloodmobiles in the CVI west lot (near the large electronic sign) this Thursday, March 26 for blood donations between 10 AM and 4PM. Vitalant advises that in addition to their usual rigorous safety and disinfection protocols they are also limiting the number of people who can be on each Bloodmobile at one time. To schedule a time to donate this Thursday, click here.  A limited number of "walk-ins" will also be accommodated. When you arrive, register with the Vitalant rep outside and then wait outside or in your vehicle. For background information, here is a link to the Vitalant Public Response Statement.

TJ’s Corral Concert Throwback
Looking back at the last week in June we remember when Rodney Adkins took the stage on June 27, 2015 and who can forget just last year on June 29, 2018 when Clint Black played to a very full house that must’ve included every country fan in Northern Nevada!

Music, Food & BrewFest this Friday
The Front Porch Blues Band and Rockology are providing the music for this Friday’s Music, Food and BrewFest, the kickoff event for the Mike Tice Annual Charity Weekend "For The Kids".  Admission is just $25 which includes a starter supply of tokens used to buy beer (we’ll have a nice variety) and food (burgers, dogs, pulled pork and the like). To purchase tickets for this three-plus hours of music and fun, Click Here. Remember, this event is to raise funds for a permanent facility for the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, Carson Valley Branch.

Blood Drive Today at CVI
The folks from Vitalant (formerly United Blood Services) will have their bloodmobiles set up in our west lot along Hwy 395 today from 10 AM to 6 PM for another in their series of All American Blood Drives.  Summer is the most difficult time to get donors to jump in plus the needs for blood definitely increase in the summer with more traffic and more outside activity. Your help would be very much appreciated . . . Simply stop in at the pop-up tent next to the bloodmobiles and the Vitalant rep will get you in as soon as possible. As an added incentive, Vitalant is bringing a variety of t-shirts for today’s donors including some with Giants and some with Nevada themes.  Take your pick from their selection while supplies last!

Death Ride Deadline This Sunday!
Pretty ominous headline, huh! Because of our involvement behind the scenes, we happened to be talking to the folks at the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce this week. They mentioned there are still some openings for the Tour of the California Alps – Death Ride on July 13 and the registration cutoff is this Sunday. Get all the details at This Link.

Easton Corbin is “first-up” in our 2019 TJ’s Corral Concert Schedule. His is the second-fasted selling concert of the four we have announced so far. Here are a few tips, answers and observations after our announcement a week ago:
  • Yes, we will have more than four concerts and we'll announce them as soon as they are finalized. Be sure to check our new blog posting every Wednesday at 7 AM and also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Sister with "Sacramental Wine"
During Her 2016 Visit as “Father Matt” Looks On
Which “Sister?”
We’ve had two highly successful “Sister’s Catechism” shows in our Valley Ballroom: Late Night Catechism in 2014 and Sister’s Christmas Catechism in 2016.  A few folks have asked which sister will be here to teach us Sister's Easter Catechism on Saturday evening, April 20. Word around the convent is it’s going to be the same Sister who so effectively corralled the congregation, intimidated with her wooden ruler and elicited spontaneous laughter at the 2016 show. Don’t miss her return – more information here.

Job Fair, Out with the Old, Mini Pies, More

Job Fair September 11
We’re actively hiring for all four of our properties, the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, Sharkey’s Casino in Gardnerville, and Bodines Casino and SlotWorld Casino in Carson City. We have both part-time and full-time positions available and we’d like to talk with you at our Job Fair on Tuesday, September 11 from 3 to 7 PM in the CVI Convention Center.  Not trained in the area in which you have an interest? No problem. If you have enthusiasm and an outgoing personality, we’ll train you for the job!

Part -Time: Perhaps you’re back in school and want a part-time job that fits your schedule? Perhaps your kids are back in school and you’d like to work a few hours a day?  Perhaps you are retired and miss the social interaction that working with the public provides?  Perhaps you have a full time job and would like part time work to subsidize your income or save for a special project or purchase?

Full-Time:  This is your opportunity to investigate our growing company for positions in all hospitality industry areas including food and beverage, hotel, casino, accounting, administrative, and more. Many of our current supervisors and managers started in entry-level positions – that’s what happens in a growing company and we would like to tell you more!

Department representatives will be at the Job Fair doing interviews and will be extending job offers to successful applicants.  Want to shortcut the process?  Stop at the Carson Valley Inn HR Department any time between now and September 11 or click on this link and download a fillable PDF job application. You can save it, complete the info, print it, and bring it with you to the Job Fair (or before if you wish).

Will 38 Special be "Caught Up in You"
on Friday, September 21?

“Caught Up In You” is one of 38 Special’s classic songs, first released on the band’s Special Forces album in 1982. Written by Don Barnes, Jeff Carlisi and Jim Peterik, this is just one of the group’s many hits you’ll hear in TJ’s Corral on Friday, September 21 when 38 Special closes out our 2018 concert season. You can buy tickets on our website or in person at the Hotel Front Desk.

We have a few other surprises coming this winter and you’ll read about it here in our weekly blog.
